From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with deep leather banquettes, two patios to choose from and an impressive arching brick bar fully stocked with delicate hand blown stemware, a library of spirits and an enviable wine collection. Just behind the bar is an intimate lounge complete with fireplace and comfy leather wingbacks for more dining. But it’s the exquisitely chosen selection of wines and cocktails that pair perfectly with the savoury share plates that give this upscale urban lounge its warm, soulful feel.
The inspired menu, featuring innovative interpretations of fresh seasonal ingredients and Ocean Wise seafood, is like manna from heaven for the nosh and cocktail crowd. Nibble on crab cakes, crispy arancini (savory risotto fritters) and a variety of intriguing cheese and charcuterie plates from the tapas menu or move into some more substantial dining. The dinner menu features such heavy hitters as the grilled rib eye with chickpea puree and pappardelle with braised veal and wild mushrooms. “Everything is made in house,” proclaims restaurant supervisor Jayelle Malleck. “Our pastas, breads, desserts – even the little condiments on our charcuterie plates. We oversee every detail.”
A rotating list of over 15 wines is always available by the glass, including hard-tofind boutique vineyards from around the world and carefully chosen wine ‘flights’ allow you to compare three different wines at a single serving. Freshly muddled cocktails, international beers and a myriad selection of premium single malt scotches make UnWine’d the perfect destination for convivial sipping and mingling.
Generous nightly features only add to this room’s charm. Every Wednesday lets guests take $10 off of any bottle on the list, on Thursdays flights of select BC wines are deducted and on Fridays and Saturdays Jayelle pours exclusive wines from the reserve list by the glass.
