Voted ‘Best Latin’ by the Georgia Straight Reader's Choice, Samba Brazilian Steakhouse is Vancouver’s first and only authentic Brazilian steakhouse. Now in its 8th year, this popular downtown destination has captured the imagination of people of all ages with its stellar food, nightly live entertainment and celebratory atmosphere. Their specialty is the all-you-can-eat churrascaria de rodizio (traditional Brazilian “Gaucho-style” barbeque) cooked over an open flame in an elaborate custom-made rotisserie grill that was flown in from Brazil. “There’s nothing else like it in the city,” explains Director of Operations Desmond Chen. “For all of Vancouver’s diversity, nothing like this exists.”
Samba pays tribute to the most popular style of eating in Brazil, with a feast you must experience personally to properly appreciate. Flip your meat card to green and ‘passodores’ in traditional Brazilian gaucho attire roam through the dining room carving a variety of sumptuous spit roasted meats with long knives right at your table. Savour 14 different varieties of perfectly roasted beef, chicken, bacon wrapped chicken, Brazilian sausage, lamb, pork, venison, buffalo and even ostrich. Sample zesty guacamole, feijoada (a traditional pork and black bean stew) and the camarao inferno (prawns sautéed with garlic, chili and herbs served over rice and vegetables) before turning your focus back to the rodizio. The juicy prime cuts are endless and it’s not long before the next tender morsel arrives and is sliced fresh from the skewer and onto your plate. When you’ve had your fill, simply turn your meat card over to red (labeled ‘I give up!’) and enjoy the festive ambiance.
With live entertainment offered every night, it might be the best place to enjoy an ice-cold Brazilian beer or the signature Samba mojitos and tropical caipirinhas made with freshly muddled lime and sugarcane cachaça. The main stage evokes festival energy of Rio de Janeiro with live Latin music and Brazilian dance shows that amaze and delight. The large dining room is ideal for family gatherings, birthdays and celebrations, plus a VIP room is available for hosting private parties. At Samba, you can adopt the Brazilian philosophy: Eat Well, Live Well, and Be Happy.
