A GuestLife Vancouver
Great Restaurant
Reminiscent of a lush country estate, The Fish House in Stanley Park is an urban gem. This tranquil oasis in the city is surrounded by vibrant gardens and trees, with the shimmering backdrop of English Bay.
Dark wood panelling, terra-cotta walls, crisp table linens and sunshine spilling through the oversized windows and French doors provide an elegant yet warm atmosphere. A marble bar, with chilled oysters on a bed of glistening ice, welcomes you. Continue to our dark-wood and brass bar, and enjoy a plate of freshly shucked oysters served with our own sauces, to accompany your favorite beverage.
Our innovative “seafresh” fish and seafood menu has earned consistent praise from both patrons and media. Executive Chef and acclaimed cookbook author Karen Barnaby changes the menus seasonally so you can enjoy what is local, fresh and at its best. The dedication to regional cuisine is reinforced by Barnaby’s innovative, uncomplicated approach. Several favourites worth noting: the Seafood Bowl, a Pacific Northwest bouillabaisse of shellfish and local fresh fish, in tomato-flecked white wine and saffron broth; Flaming Prawns, flambéed at your table with Ouzo; and the Grilled Wild Salmon with Maple Glaze. A daily fresh sheet provides an abundant choice of simply prepared local and imported fish. Desserts include decadent Crème Brûlée, and Chocolate Lava Cake with a warm, molten centre.
Brunch is the focus of Sunday, 11 am to 3 pm, with our classic or contemporary Eggs Benedict, omelettes, unique brunch items or lunch classics.
Afternoon Tea is served daily from 2 to 4 pm. This celebration of a British tradition offers new twists on classic tea sandwiches, organic currant scones with fresh Devon Cream, charming sweets, and a choice of fragrant loose-leaf teas, served in unique Japanese Tsetsubin teapots. Wine Director Barb Philip’s list has been recognized by Wine Spectator since 1999 as one of the world’s finest, and recently won the 2005 “Gold Glass Award” from the international wine festival. The list offers a wide selection of half-bottles, wines by the glass and comfortable as well as intriguing labels.
Whether for a casual lunch or a special evening celebration, few Vancouver restaurants offer awardwinning cuisine and wines amid such a natural, beautiful setting as the Fish House in Stanley Park.
