Truth or Consequences is the "Most Affordable Spa Town in New Mexico." The geothermal heated water ranges between 102-112°F. With no unpleasant odor or taste, these waters are said to be magical, providing relief from stress and muscular pain. Most of the bathhouses in the historic spa district were built in the 1930s. There are nine public spa houses — from elegantly pampering to quaintly informal — some offer pools with free-flowing natural bottoms and others have tiled tubs. Each bathhouse is unique. Many offer full spa services.

Words of Caution
Mountain views and desert vistas — the scenery in New Mexico can only be described as breathtaking. But some of our visitors who are more accustomed to sea level may find themselves just that — breathless. If so, they may be suffering from altitude sickness, a condition to be alert to and take precautions to prevent. The most common symptoms are fatigue, dizziness, fainting, severe headache, extreme thirst, sleep disturbance, nausea, pounding pulse, and congested lungs. To help acclimate yourself to the altitude, ascend altitudes slowly to allow your body to adjust, avoid vigorous exercise until you have acclimated, drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol and check with your doctor if you have any chronic illness, particularly respiratory problems. In higher altitudes the air is thinner, much drier and there is more solar radiation, so be sure to use sunscreen. Higher altitude creates a decreased tolerance for alcohol. Please drink moderately. So, if you find yourself high atop a mountain, breathless or swooning, it may be the staggering view. But if you’re really not feeling well, seek some medical advice.
Remember:
Do what you can to save our precious water!
