A Prime Steakhouse

The Bull Ring

A GuestLife New Mexico
Great Chef

If there’s one thing New Mexico's politicians can agree on, it's where to eat in Santa Fe. The Bull Ring is where they go when the Legislature is in session, and year-round its three-decade reputation as Santa Fe’s finest steakhouse brings locals and visitors back to savor their tender and delicious steaks, chops, ribs and fresh lobster tails.

Their secret is no secret: they serve USDA Prime corn-fed Midwestern beef that’s been carefully dry-aged to meet specific requirements, then hand-cut and masterfully prepared in specially-built broilers that heat up to 1800 degrees to sear the beef and lock in that Prime, corn-fed flavor.

Consistency is key in any fine restaurant, and whether you choose the superbly grilled Petite Filet of Beef or surrender to your inner hedonist and go for a broiled 24-ounce T-Bone, your order will arrive sizzling at your table exactly the way you want it, every time. The less carnivorous will be glad to find grilled salmon, lobster tails and a fresh catch of the day on the menu.

For the most satisfying dining experience, begin by sharing a bottle of one of The Bull Ring’s fine wines with the Escargot in Mushroom Caps or the plump and tasty Coconut Shrimp — its tangy dipping sauce is a standout. Then enjoy your entrée with a cold, crisp Caesar salad, extra-thin shoestring fries, creamed spinach, sautéed mushrooms, broiled tomatoes or any of the other savory accompaniments on the menu.

Do save room for one of the exotic coffees and dessert; espresso, a cognac and the Chocolate Torte with Tequila Sauce are wonderful together and a perfect final complement to the meal.

Daily soup specials and diverse salads such as Cobb, Greek, Oriental and Steak-Julienne of Beef Tenderloin on a bed of fresh greens with a delicate vinaigrette dressing share the lunch menu with cold sandwiches and the daily beef, pork and fish specials.

The Bull Ring offers three distinctive dining venues, each served by an impressive wait staff, many of whom have worked there for years. In the casually elegant main room with its soft lighting and soothing music, booths are roomy and tables are spread far enough apart to have a private conversation and it's quiet enough to actually hear your dinner companions. The courtyard patio is a perfect spot during the warm-weather months. And for a quick bite after a stroll at the nearby Plaza, or a late-night snack, the lounge’s bar menu is sure to satisfy.

So the next time your primal urge for beef strikes, don’t hesitate. Bring your hearty appetite to The Bull Ring for quite possibly the best steak you’ll ever eat.
