You can almost hear a heartbeat and see breath in the air. The wind seems to move the feathers and the horse’s mane. Vivid moments of the American past frozen in bronze. These are the ultimate "Expressions in Bronze" from the master of realism, sculptor Dave McGary.
From evocative busts and life-size statues to monumental bronze sculptures, the internationally acclaimed artist Dave McGary, creates some of the most striking and powerful images of historic Native Americans ever seen. These highly detailed and vividly colorful bronze creations are the result of painstaking research into history, and careful attention to the stories and lore of his Lakota friends. Dave is an adopted member of the Lakota and has earned both their respect and admiration for his dedication to the preservation of their history.
Monumental Highlights: His sculptures are in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian and Statuary Hall in Washington, D.C. The Hubbard Museum of the American West in Ruidoso Downs houses the bronze work entitled Free Spirits at Noisy Water. It is one of the largest equine sculptures in the world, measuring 255 feet long. Recent installations include Emergence of the Chief at Concordia University in Montreal, which stands 28 feet tall and Battle of Two Hearts, featuring Chief Washakie, at the University of Wyoming, standing 30 feet in height. McGary's Stronghearts has been added to Marriott Camelback's collection. His latest masterwork, The Gatekeeper is the final piece in his Strongheart Society trilogy series.
