Located on Ocean Avenue in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, Carmel Antiques offers the most comprehensive and exciting collection of European antiques in the area, and at prices made eminently affordable by the store’s direct-from-France buying philosophy. With fresh containers of furniture arrive quarterly, and warehouses in both Monterey and Los Angeles, the store’s array of extraordinary furniture revolves on a weekly basis, remaining ever-vibrant.

While journeying through the two-story shop, one can fi nd many items that are one-of-a-kind beauties, such as a rare Joan of Arc Tribute Buffet, and revel in the grandeur of the Château Le Grande dining room tables. These fabulous tables are modern masterpieces made from 400-year old woods by highly-skilled French craftsmen in a shop near Avignon. Based on vintage designs, each table can take six to eight months from order to delivery, and can be customized to meet a client’s individual needs, whether for a corporate boardroom, a dining room or a vintage wine cellar to celebrate the upcoming bon vendage.

From 17th century writing desks to 20th century Art Deco armoires, many of Carmel Antiques’ pieces are wellproportioned and styled to fit perfectly alongside most modern furniture and interiors, many times at a fraction of the cost of a new piece of furniture, while still maintaining a lasting value. The store also stocks a small and tastefully edited selection of accessories, and maintains a library of reference books designed to appeal to designers and collectors of all types.

On the upper level Carmel Antiques has assembled a more relaxed and accessible style of French country furniture, as well as an eclectic assortment of reproductions and specialty items.
