Thomas Kinkade — “The Painter of Light,” uses techniques reminiscent of 19th-century luminists. His paintings simply glow as they illustrate cozy cottages, country churchyards, idyllic cityscapes, and dramatic Western landscapes. “I try to create paintings that are a window for the imagination,” says Kinkade.
“If people look at my work and are reminded of the way things once were or perhaps the way they could be, then I’ve done my job.”

On historic Cannery Row in Monterey, a beautiful collection of Kinkade’s artwork is showcased at the Steinbeck Gallery. The Kinkade National Archive in Monterey offers a sweeping history of this contemporary master through a collection of rare original studio works, plein air paintings, and sketches that span more than 25 years of the artist’s life. The Archive is the only place in the world where collectors can purchase an original work of art from among more than 50 original paintings and sketches. We are also excited to announce the opening of our newest gallery located at the five-star Monterey Plaza Hotel on historical Cannery Row. This “Studio on the Bay” is the first Thomas Kinkade Gallery dedicated to the artist’s plein air and sculpture masterworks. Come and discover the world of Thomas Kinkade’s warm and romantic art.
