The incredible view over Monterey’s marina is just one of the reasons to dine at Isabella’s on the Wharf. In 1994 the American Academy of Restaurant and Hospitality Sciences dubbed owner Tene Shake “One of the Top Ten Outstanding Young Chefs in America.”
And no wonder, as Tene is one of the six sons of Monterey’s legendary Restaurateur, the late Sabu Shake Sr. The restaurant is named after his mother Isabella Pullano, widow of Sabu and matriarch of the family. Isabella’s Restaurant offers the largest selection of truly fresh seafood in Monterey, all purchased in accordance with the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Program. As such, all of the seafood comes from sustainable sources and is harvested in a manner that does not harm the environment. Isabella’s also features a large selection of USDA Choice Certified Black Angus Beef. Love pasta? Our pastas are locally made, delivered fresh every day, and all of our dishes are complemented by the finest vegetables and greens of the bountiful Salinas Valley. Isabella’s award-winning wine list is reasonably priced, and offers a wide selection, including 25 wines by the glass. You can find our beautiful restaurant near the end of the wharf, on the right-hand side. The two stories of the restaurant allow for two different environments, the downstairs more casual and club-like, and the upstairs intimate and elegant. For corporate meetings, private parties, or any special occasion our upstairs private banquet room can be reserved for a group of up to 60 people.
