Continuing The Legacy Of Acclaimed Artist Richard MacDonald
A GuestLife Monterey Bay Great Gallery
Seen right :Blind Faith, Half Life, 45" x 13" x 19", bronze, by Richard MacDonald..
You may have discovered his work in New York City, or Utah’s Park City, but world-renowned artist and sculptor, Richard MacDonald, has lived and worked in the Carmel/Monterey area for most of his extraordinary career. This is where he created the monument The Flair for the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta, and Momentum, which was permanently installed at Pebble Beach in 2000 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the U.S. Open.
As a local artist of international acclaim, Richard MacDonald has created a unique 22,000-sq.-ft. facility in Monterey — far more than a working studio, this state-ofthe- art center brings together inspirational influences from all over the world, creating a hub of artistic energy where performers from all the arts meet and generate ideas. Cirque du Soleil jugglers and acrobats, illusionists, dancers, Olympic athletes and political leaders come together, to inspire the dynamic works of Richard MacDonald.
Two exceptional galleries in Carmel offer exclusive representation of Richard MacDonald’s work. Elegantly appointed in a style that reflects the artist’s commitment to excellence, they can be found on San Carlos between Fifth & Sixth and Ocean Avenue between Mission & San Carlos. From previous visits you may remember the gallery on San Carlos by the name of “Richard MacDonald Fine Art,” which was recently renamed “Dawson Cole Fine Art” in honor of the birth of Richard MacDonald’s grandson. Both galleries offer the finest and most comprehensive collection of MacDonald’s work, as well as exceptional works by Modern Masters, such as Picasso and Moore, and the work of notable American artists Chuck Close, Robert Heindel, and Jian Wang.
We invite you to visit both of these locations during your stay in the area, and feel the drama, passion, and excellence of works by one of the most gifted American sculptors of our time.
