The Grill on Ocean Avenue is indeed a rare find among restaurants on the Peninsula. Artfully melding the casual comfort of a French bistro with the distinctive cuisine and ambience that characterize a memorable dining experience, The Grill is equally ideal for impromptu meals, special occasions and group gatherings.

The menu crafted by Chef Toby Jensen presents classic California cuisine with international sensibilities — bistro steak frites, grilled prawn spring roll, porcini crusted rack of Colorado lamb, butternut squash ravioli, and smoked duck and warm spinach salad. Each day, special dishes expand on the already diverse and ample lunch and dinner selections. Those who prefer to dine early will enjoy the price-fixed, three-course Sunset Dinners offered daily from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Recognized as “One of the Peninsula’s 10 Best Restaurants” by Epicurean Rendezvous Restaurant Guide and Monterey County Critics Choice, The Grill showcases California’s finest vintages as well as a full bar featuring both traditional and innovative cocktails. Tempting, creative desserts, from tiramisu with mango and raspberry sauce to brie, apple and pear slices, spicy pecans and bruschetta, are the grand finale to a grand dining experience.

The pleasure of the cuisine is enhanced by an attentive staff and an elegantly appointed décor. Windows invite light as well as views of Carmel’s charming main street. A handsome stone fireplace, tables draped in white linen, rich oak accents and walls graced with stunning scenes from the area’s world-class golf courses create an atmosphere of subtle sophistication.
