When entering Carrigg’s of Carmel, many people experience a shudder of excitement, and a twinge of expectation as they marvel over the luxurious furnishings and flawless detailing. Carrigg’s is a synergy of color, texture and ambience using the most exquisite pieces from around the world.
Owner Mary Ann Carrigg is the recipient of the prestigious ASID Award for design excellence. She believes that to understand placement, integrity of furnishings, color and accessorizing is tantamount to successful design.
Each of her three stores, located within a few steps of each other, offers architectural splendor with attention to detail. The massive palladium windows of the Carrigg’s store on the corner of 7th and Dolores in Carmel showcase magnificent displays; inside, the golden rich walls and the heavy sandblasted beams complement the two 1920’s stone fireplaces. The light from the marble, alabaster, wrought iron and crystal chandeliers casts a warm glow throughout. Italian dining tables are flanked by rich tapestry, leather and handcarved walnut chairs. Enjoy a glass of champagne as you rest on the down-filled, overstuffed sofas.
Around the corner, on 7th and San Carlos, Carrigg brings her imaginative and resourceful genius to two incomparable furniture galleries. Richly hand-carved beds with French and Italian linens invite an evening of luxury with these 600 thread-count sheets. Urns, candelabras, botanicals and one-of-a-kind lamps complete the décor.
Her clients Kathy and Tim Rhein comment, “Mary Ann Carrigg is a unique talent and a rare find. She was intent on making our home into exactly what we would have wanted if we had only had the knowledge and talent to do it ourselves. She has elegant taste, a fantastic eye for design and she made it a lot of fun.”
