411 on Houston

Welcome to a place where you can find it all.

Houston’s come a long way since its founding more than 170 years ago. When Augustus and John Allen navigated their way up Buffalo Bayou from Galveston Bay in 1836, there was little to indicate that this coastal land would become a thriving metropolis. But the New York brothers had faith in their new home and what it could become.

Today, Houston is the nation’s fourth largest city, home to 2 million people and a hub of international businesses. Houston’s leaders are also focusing their attention on making their city not only a great place to live, but a great place to visit as well.

If this is your first visit to the place known both as SpaceCity, USA and the Bayou City, you’re likely to be pleasantly surprised by its lush green landscape, urbane attitudes and the volume and variety of things to do. With just one visit, it’s easy to see why Houstonians think it’s the center of the universe.

On our 411 pages, GuestLife Houston has compiled some basic information important to any traveler. Here you can find emergency phone numbers, transportation information, maps, and even the nicknames for the local highways.
