1 HOUR TO SPARE

• Go to Contemporary Arts Museum Houston for eye-opening works in a wide-open art space. Don’t miss the gift shop! (713) 284-8250.
• Food and wine lovers can spend an hour and a few hundred bucks at Spec’s Liquor Warehouse on Smith Street in Midtown. It features 80,000 square feet of wines, spirits, beers, liquor, cigars, and gourmet foods. (713) 526-8787.
• Tour Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros. See historic Union Station, the retractable roof, dugouts, press box, and more. (713) 259-8687.

• Book a walking tour with Discover Houston Tours, or purchase a selfguided tour brochure from Houston’s Visitors Center at City Hall. Explore history, art, architecture, the tunnel system — even cemeteries — to gain local insights. (713) 222-9255.
• Take a peaceful stroll along Allen Parkway’s hike and bike trails between the Sabine Street Bridge and Memorial Drive. About 25 sculptures and other works of art dot the trails that meander across the grassy sloping banks of Buffalo Bayou. (713) 752-0314.
