El Paso Museum of Art announces Recycle / Reuse: WWII Propaganda Prints

Recycle / Reuse: WWII Propaganda Prints examines the vintage concept of recycling as depicted in World War II posters. This exhibition is open to the public September 27, 2009 through March 2, 2010 in the Gateway Gallery at the El Paso Museum of Art.  This exhibition is free to the public. Related merchandise is available for purchase in the Museum Store.

World War II Propaganda Prints

Propaganda prints created by artists during World War II spouted various messages intended to rally citizens for a number of causes.  The concept of recycle/reuse may be considered a recent trend, but this concept can often be noted in propaganda prints during this era.  Citizens were often encouraged to ration their food and recycle items with raw materials such as rubber, aluminum, tin and steal that were used for war supplies.  EPMA holds over seven-hundred propaganda prints from both WWI and WWII, which were given by Mrs. Rose Nordwald and the El Paso Public Library in 1975.

Please contact the museum for hours of operation.
