Established in 1961, Ardovino’s originally opened as a gourmet and Italian food mart and has since expanded to include a pizzeria and delicatessen. What does 46 years of experience mean to you? Great food! “It definitely has the best food in town.” — Texas Monthly. Ardovino’s is also recognized as one of the top 100 independent pizzerias in the country by the leading trade magazine. Try Joanna’s Pizza (shown) a delightful combination of spinach, fresh tomato, garlic, onion, pesto, feta cheese, and olive oil. The salads are expertly prepared with homemade Italian dressing. Ardovino’s is an El Paso institution. Traditional and gourmet pizza at its best.

DANE'S STEAKHOUSE

El Paso, Texas 79902

Dane’s Steakhouse distinguishes itself from other El Paso Steakhouses by being the only place in town where all the steaks are prime-cut, dry-aged beef. Other great specialties include rack of lamb, mouth watering pork chops and fresh fish in an a la carte menu. Top shelf at the bar is really top shelf with noteworthy selections of bourbons, scotches and cognacs along with a great wine list. It’s a big city feel here in lil’ old El Paso. Located in the Kern Place entertainment district, Dane’s reinvents itself nightly after dinner into a lively gathering spot for drinks, music and mingling. Open for lunch Mon.-Fri. and dinner Tues.-Sat. with drinks served until 2 a.m. Reservations recommended.

MARCO POLO DIVE BAR
2708 N. Mesa
El Paso, Texas 79902
(915) 544-Dive (3483)

Just kidding! Marco Polo is no dive. It’s the newest, upscale dance club in Kern Place (the ever expanding area for night life adjacent to the UTEP campus). Themed as a 1970s neighborhood swimming pool with sophisticated lighting and sounds. Everything is prepared by expert mixologists; martinis, frozen pina coladas, daiquiris, and margaritas. Marco Polo will put a smile on your face and a groove in your step. Flash back to your younger daze in the sun while enjoying the sounds of today.

O2 LOUNGE
2700 N. Mesa
El Paso, Texas 79902
(915) 532-0202

What started as almost a speakeasy six years ago with no sign except two letters on the mailbox has become the center of the revitalized Kern Place nightlife scene. Don’t worry, there’s now a neon martini glass sign outside at the corner of Mesa and Cincinnati streets to light your way. Things get going at happy hour and keep going late into the night. The specialty of the house is anything martini — chocolate, pomegranate, mango, and goji juice. Inside or out on the patio, O2 is happenin’.

THE RIB HUT
2612 N. Mesa
El Paso, Texas 79902
(915) 532-RIBS

One bite of the tender beef smothered in special barbecue sauce and you will see why Rib Hut has been El Paso’s favorite since 1984, famed for its slow-cooked, mouthwatering barbecue. Try the big, beefy ribs or baby back mesquite-smoked pork ribs, honey glazed. The brisket is always lean, smoked, and thinly sliced. The sausage is spiced perfectly and always juicy. The chicken-fried steak is the best in the Southwest. Rib Hut also offers a tempting selection of steaks, deliciously grilled to your liking. From the 16- ounce T-Bone to the eight-ounce charbroiled rib eye, it doesn’t get any better. And mmmm ... the burgers! The half-pound Angus Steakburger is served with your choice of toppings and an ice-cold beer. The atmosphere is as friendly and relaxing as the staff, which can cater any size party or event. This is what barbecue is all about.
