El Paso - Annual 2006

The State Line

A GuestLife El Paso
Great Restaurant

Behind the walls of this Spanish structure lies one of the most beautiful courtyards in the city. Fountains make The State Line an El Paso oasis that’s a favorite restaurant of locals and visitors alike. The bustling, yet laid back atmosphere makes it a comfortable place for families as well as couples and groups. From sneakers to heels, everyone is accommodated with friendliness and efficiency.

Barbecue is slow-smoked for 18-20 hours every day, then cut and trimmed to create the leanest beef brisket, the meatiest ribs, the most tender baby back pork ribs and the most succulent smoked chicken. Large portions are served with homemade potato salad, cole slaw and beans. Grilled Blue Plate Specials like Beef and Chicken Kabobs, Grilled Fish and a full line of steaks including New York Strip, Rib Eye and a T-Bone as big as your shoe and as tender as your mother's heart, are all served with a large baked potato, cole slaw and beans. Lighter portioned platters as well as sandwiches are also available at lunch time for light eaters. On the à la carte menu, don’t pass up the incredible homemade bread or mushrooms cooked in butter, wine and spices. If there’s room left over after hunkerin' down to barbecue, finish your meal off with homemade cobbler and/or ice cream made fresh daily.

Because of the commitment of those involved in The State Line and the testimonies of those who have enjoyed it over the years, The State Line name has become synonymous with consistent, quality barbecue as well as friendly, Southwestern service. Voted El Paso's Best Restaurant, critics have called it "the best of barbecue" (Vogue magazine), and "the original source for barbecue" (USA Today). Says Texas Monthly, "You'll find first-class beef, ribs and sausage with all the trimmings, plus a spiffy Texas Roadhouse atmosphere."

The State Line is now continuously serving lunch and dinner seven days a week. Due to its extreme popularity, a well-worth-it 15-20 minute wait gives you a chance to enjoy a smooth margarita or a frosty beer outside in the beautiful courtyard. Private dining facilities are available for business meetings and group dinners. "To go" barbecue is also available.
